I have not forgotten about my won blog, but I have so much fun reading other blogs. I know I am not the best at poating everyday nor every week. I am going to try and improve.
Well, almost Halloween! My kids are going to be a horse and a fairy princess. The horse costume has a tail it is so cute. My daughter did not want anything except for a pair of pink fairy wings, so she is going to be a fairy princess. She is going to wear her ballet leotard and tights with the pink wings and I am going to get her a crown to wear. I really wanted to get my son (10 months old today) a pumpkin costume, but I could not find one. I liked the horse better than the teddy bear and I am sure it is going to be cold and the horse is like a full body costume, his hand will stay warm.

Good to know you are still alive! And those costumes for your kiddies sound very cute.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I wanted to answer the questions you left on my blog.
Halloween here...well if you read the comments on my blog, not all people approve of it, but its catching on inspite of all of that. Things and people vary from town to town. Trust me, one tamale lady thinking I'm a devil worshipper is the least of my worries. I'm more concerned with raising my children in both cultures. And I hope you will do the same.
When you move to Mexico, people may not always agree with what you are doing, or how you are doing it, but who cares!!! As long as you, your honey and the kids are happy, everything else is just not important.
As for Christmas, it is celebrated the same, in that it is because of Christ's birth. Some towns and cities do have Santa Claus, others do not. The Reyes Magos are very popular gift givers, but they don't arrive until January 6th. The most popular would be El Niño Dios (the Christ child). According to Mexicans, he is the one who delivers the present to children throughout Mexico. You should ask your honey about his family's traditions.
For Christmas, we do both. My kids feel lucky because they get 2 presents. One from El Niño Dios and one from Santa. We even enjoy making cookies for Santa on the 23rd. Oh, and one more thing, Christmas dinner is usually done on Christmas Eve.
Hope this info helped a little. If you have more questions, email me at leslielimon(at)hotmail(dot)com
